“Naked in the Canyon” This Friday in Montpelier
RUTH EINSTEIN AND I WILL BARE ALL (almost) this Friday during tales of rock and river, of wildlife and wild walking in Grand Canyon National Park. On this journey through nearly two billion years of the Earth’s history, you’ll see oceans rise and recede, a desert turn to stone, and the continent’s largest bird return from the dead. And in this massive canyon, this grand void, you’ll even discover meaning in the world’s smallest butterfly.
Starting at 7 PM on Friday (January 22) at Montpelier’s Unitarian Church, this presentation is part of the North Branch Nature Center’s Naturalist Journeys lecture series. Donations at the door are most welcome. Ruth and I will be there by 6:30 PM (so that we’ll have some time to chat with friends who arrive early).
A New Community Nature Center for Montpelier
By the way, if you live in Montpelier, please find a way to sign the petition to help North Branch Nature Center with its capital campaign for a new community nature center, which will benefit the city and thousands of people who visit the preserve each year. NBNC needs your signature to put a funding request on Montpelier’s town meeting ballot this year. But we need your signature by Thursday at noon because petitions are due at close of business on Thursday. Here’s where you can stop in and sign (pronto). Thanks!
