IF YOU HAVEN’T YET SEEN THE SNOWS OF AUTUMN, this weekend should be good for getting goosed. In the December warmth, thousands of Snow Geese continue to flock and fly at Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area in Addison, Vermont, and at Point Au Roche State Park, south of Rouse’s Point, across Lake Champlain in New York.

As many at 5,000 Snow Geese were reported from Dead Creek during the past week, including the flock feeding close to the goose viewing area on Route 17. In late November, counts at Point Au Roche and environs were as has as 10,000 (on November 30) and 15,000 (on November 26).

Get the latest goose updates, including links to real-time sightings, from my 2015 SNOW GOOSE SCOOP. And here’s your lesson on separating Ross’s Goose from Snow Goose, using an exceedingly rare blue-morph Ross’s Goose as an example.

  1. This is the closest to snow I’ve seen, this season! No snow in my part of New York at all!
