Browsing Bliss Awaits You

It appears you're using Internet Explorer or an early version of Edge, which is a bit like watching a black-and-white TV with "rabbit ears." You're missing symmetry, joy and actual knowledge — not only here on my website but across the internet. I suggest you upgrade to Chrome or Firefox. You’ll discover a lot more nature, maybe even actual rabbit ears.

Snowy-Owl-EastMontpelier-2-860x

Updated: April 20, 2014

Okay, we might call this edition of Montpelier Wild “East Montpelier Wild” (but close enough). This Snowy Owl, which I photographed on April 19, was still around Easter Morning. Find it along Towne Hill Road in East Montpelier, in the vicinity of David Blosser Designs, whose sign you can see along Towne Hill. (Or just look for the crowd of bird watchers.)  A farmer in the area reports that the owl has been around for about a week. Lin Syz discovered it Saturday. Way to go, Lin! After visiting us in record numbers this winter, Snowy Owls are probably moving north, which means they could show up about anywhere.

By the way, here’s my essay in Aeon Magazine about finding humility among Snowy Owls this winter. And here’s a photo from earlier in the day Saturday, in poor light (and rain).

Beautiful. Wish I’d seen it! Instead, I’ve been chasing white plastic bags for two winters. No snowys at all. :~(

Why would the snowy owl leave, when it is clear winter is going to go on forever here?
