Browsing Bliss Awaits You

It appears you're using Internet Explorer or an early version of Edge, which is a bit like watching a black-and-white TV with "rabbit ears." You're missing symmetry, joy and actual knowledge — not only here on my website but across the internet. I suggest you upgrade to Chrome or Firefox. You’ll discover a lot more nature, maybe even actual rabbit ears.

While backpacking in the Grand Canyon last week I managed to win my first election. In the contest for Montpelier Parks Commission on Town Meeting Day I prevailed by a vote of 1398 to 677. And I was among the last to know.

As Montpelier voters went to the polls, Ruth and I (having voted absentee) were hiking off-trail in a relatively obscure portion of the Grand Canyon on the north side of the Colorado River. To those who voted and offered me wisdom and support, I offer the most sincere gratitude. Along the with other dedicated member of the Parks Commission, I’ll bring passion and three decades of experience gained while working and playing on public lands.

Thanks again, everyone!

Breath-taking photos of the Grand Canyon. Myndy and I have flown down inside the canyon many years ago ,before they decided to regulate such flights. We were traveling with our plane, further west. Beautiful pictures! “Tip of the Hat” for your recent election. Katie Woodruff

  5. Congratulations Bryan! Does this mean you will be in Montpelier behind a desk full time or does the Comm. meet less periodically. Nice way to find out about an election. You and Teddy roosevelt have something in common!

      Hi Sue and John,

Actually, it seems some folks have misunderstood the position. I’ve been joking about it. It’s a seat on the five-member Parks Commission. It’s a volunteer elected position — like lots in Vermont government. It also means, yeah, I’ll still be outside!

Although I don’t live in Montpelier (I live in Plainfield) I was delighted that you won.

I’ve recently been reading Zane Grey’s entire body of work, much of which takes place in this area. It’s nice to see his descriptions come to life in these photos!

  12. Wonderful, Bryan; thanks for sharing! Hearty congratulations on the election results! I’m sure you’ll do a great job!
